Iris Acosta is a relative newcomer to Nirvana Healthcare Management Services, joining the organization as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in 2022. Previous positions included six years at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center (Paterson) in its telemetry and cardiothoracic surgery departments and six years on staff at CarePoint Health, Christ Hospital (Jersey City).
In addition to her clinical experience, Ms. Acosta’s medical education comprises a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). Professional certifications include Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP). Iris is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. She is proficient in Spanish.
Ms. Acosta rates her experience at Nirvana as “excellent,” and values the collaborative spirit and teamwork that result in providing patients with compassionate and expert medical care. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical examinations; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; and treating acute and chronic diseases, including anemia, asthma, eczema, osteoarthritis, hypertension, diabetes, and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). She particularly enjoys counseling patients, and their caretakers, on managing their conditions and on preventative measures through lifestyle modification.
