Dr. Amanda Marino joined Nirvana Healthcare Management Services (NHMS) in 2017, immediately after completing her residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (New Brunswick). Her practice, with a support staff of forty, is located at Roseville Medical Society in Newark.
Dr. Marino is Board-Certified in Family Medicine and holds additional certifications in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and in Medical Acupuncture from Saint Joseph University Medical Center. She holds licenses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.
Professional memberships include the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP). She served as a physician volunteer in Belize (2016) and in Vietnam (2017). In addition to Spanish, Dr. Marino is fluent in French and Haitian Creole.
Her primary care practice focuses on adult and geriatric patients, with a special focus on women’s health, including diagnostic testing, contraception (IUDs), and prenatal counseling.
Dr. Marino describes her work as “enriching.” She particularly appreciates the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and to establish ongoing relationships—not only with her patients but also with their family members. She empathizes with all of her patients and especially with her female patients throughout their trials (complicated pregnancies and miscarriages) and their triumphs (successful pregnancies and cancer remissions).
Establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships is very important to Amanda. She recalls an instance in which a male patient had asked her to pray for his wife (also her patient), who had been hospitalized and intubated due to Covid-19. In this case, the eventual outcome was positive: “Because he considered me ‘family,’ he called to share his joy.”
